Using Skills in SmartClaw

SmartClaw skills are curated workflow upgrades for your assistant. This guide explains what they do, how installs work, and how to keep the marketplace in sync with your desktop app.

Prompt-First by Design

Skills in the current SmartClaw release are specialist prompt packs. They improve writing, debugging, planning, review, and workflow guidance inside your assistant. They do not silently click buttons or operate third-party apps on your behalf.

Owned vs Installed

Owning a skill means your account is entitled to use it. Installing a skill means the desktop app has written that skill into your local assistant configuration. Premium purchases and admin grants change ownership. The desktop Skill Store controls installation.

Refresh Behavior

The Skill Store refresh action re-syncs your owned library from the server and updates installed built-in skills when their marketplace definition changes. If a purchase finishes in Stripe, return to the app and refresh the library.

Bundle Purchases

Bundle checkout only appears when more than one premium skill remains unowned. The price is calculated so it always beats buying the same remaining skills separately. After payment, the server grants ownership and the desktop app can install them on refresh.

Skill Categories

Skills are organized by category: productivity, development, marketing, sales, support, business, app-management, social-media, creative, multi-user, and finance. The finance category includes the Personal & Family Accountant skill for receipt scanning, expense tracking, ledger management, country-specific tax guidance, and detailed financial reports at daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual granularity.

Next step

Download the desktop app, sign in on the Account tab, then open the Skill Store to refresh your library and install the skills you own.
